ASAM 3.1 Residential Program

Upton House provides ASAM 3.1 clinically managed, low-intensity residential services for adults seeking a structured and supportive environment in early recovery from substance use disorders. Our program offers 24-hour supervision within a community-based residential setting designed to promote stability, accountability, and skill development.

This level of care is appropriate for individuals who benefit from consistent structure and clinically-focused programming while preparing to transition to lower levels of treatment and greater independence. Services are individualized to support clinical needs, recovery goals, and successful reintegration into the community.

Who We Serve

Upton House serves adults who require a structured and supportive residential environment to strengthen recovery from substance use disorders. The program is appropriate for individuals who benefit from consistent supervision, accountability, and skill development while preparing to transition to lower levels of care.

Residents typically demonstrate motivation for recovery and a willingness to actively participate in programming. Upton House is designed for individuals who are medically and psychiatrically stable and able to engage safely in a community-based residential setting.

Structured Environment

A supervised, recovery-focused residential setting that provides consistent daily structure, accountability, and stability.  Residents live in a supportive home environment designed to promote responsibility and routine.

CLINICAL SERVICES

Residents participate in comprehensive screening and biopsychosocial assessment, individualized service planning, and structured clinical and psychoeducational groups. Programming focuses on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, recovery education, and development of practical coping skills.

Integrated Care Coordination

Staff provide ongoing case management and coordination of care to support each resident’s recovery and transition planning. This includes assistance with scheduling and attending medical appointments, coordination with independent mental health providers, referrals to psychiatric and medical prescribers  and connection to community resources necessary for continued stability after discharge.

Community Reintegration

Programming focuses on strengthening the skills necessary for sustained recovery and independent living. Residents develop practical daily living competencies, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and establish healthy routines while preparing for employment and  community-based recovery.  Structured guidance supports a stable transition to lower levels of care.

Comprehensive Assessment

Each resident completes a biopsychosocial assessment to identify clinical needs, strengths, and appropriate treatment planning. Initial evaluations consider substance use history, mental health symptoms, medical factors, and psychosocial stressors to ensure appropriate level of care placement.

Individualized Service Planning

Service plans are developed collaboratively and reviewed regularly to support recovery progress. Treatment goals are measurable and reviewed regularly to reflect clinical progress and evolving recovery needs.

Clinical & Psychoeducational Groups

Structured group sessions focus on relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery education. Groups are structured to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and promote peer accountability within a safe therapeutic environment.

Case Management & Community Referrals

Coordination includes referrals to independent mental health providers, psychiatric prescribers (including MAT when appropriate), and other community resources. Coordination includes support with housing, employment resources, medical care, and linkage to ongoing outpatient or recovery support services.

Mental Health & Medication Coordination

Upton House coordinates access to independent mental health providers and local psychiatric prescribers to support co-occurring treatment needs. Residents may receive therapy services on-site through an outside licensed clinician operating under her private practice, and referrals are made to community-based medical and psychiatric providers, including medication-assisted treatment when clinically appropriate. Coordination ensures continuity of care while residents participate in residential programming.
